What is the significance of the patch the Saints and Colts were both wearing last night?
Q. What is the significance of the patch the Saints and Colts were both wearing last night? It had a large "C" on a white patch that was on both teams jerseys. Generally you see one team wear a patch, generally for anniversary's, but yesterday they both were wearing it.
Asked by Chico Maria - Fri Sep 7 16:20:38 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The "C" patch denotes that the person wearing it is the captain of the team, and teams have the option of sewing that on the uniform or not (it's not required). Both Manning and Brees have those patches on their jerseys but I don't think that patch in universally used since not all teams are yet set on their starting quarterbacks.

How long does it take for the birth control patch to start working?
Q. I've been on the patch now for two weeks and one day. The first day of my period was on a Friday and I started using the patch on the following Sunday which was two weeks ago. I had sex with my husband tonight without using a condom. Should I be worried? Just in case some of you don't know, the patch has the same hormone as the birth control pill and the Nuva ring, but just more (by 60% I've heard). Anyway, so I'm sure it works the same as these other methods of birth control. Another question: Has anyone experienced any side effects from using the patch? If so, what are they and how long did they take to subside? I've been experiencing nausea and mild headaches and am wondering if these symptoms may be side effects from the… [cont.]

How can I patch a small crack in the bottom of a fiberglass boat?
Q. I have this little two-man fiberglass fishing boat that has a few cracks in the bottom and a worrisome amount of water comes through the floor because of it. All the repair instructions I've read include cutting a hole out of my boat to patch it. Is there any other way to patch the cracks? Can I use surfboard apoxy or fiberglass?
Asked by beth S - Wed May 2 20:58:50 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. If you could picture fiberglass as sheets of wax paper, warmed and stuck together, you can figure out the repair. If you have a crack, you must sand or grind around it until you find well bonded material. Once that is done, purchase a fiberglass repair kit ( can be found at most auto parts stores or hardware stores) Cut dry fiberglass material to fit in layers over and in repair (picture placing smaller pieces in a bowl and filling to level, then one final to smooth out) Then remove, keep in order, mix resin or epoxy per instructions, dip the fiberglass in the resin making sure to saturate, and set in place. As you soak the fiberglass cloth and install, be sure you remove all bubbles before placing the next layer. You do not want too much… [cont.]

How do you make your own airsoft patch? Or is there a website to make customizable airsoft patches?
Q. I am going to create an airsoft team and I want to create a custom patch. I really want to create a patch to organize.
Asked by VINCENT R - Tue Jul 28 16:33:00 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The link in the source(s) should do. Here is a description: Features / Specifications / Limitations: * Velcro backing. * High quality embroidery * Size Limitation: 4x4" maximum * Color: 1~3 color. (Any quantity over 50, will be roughly $2~$3 each depending on design). Process: 1) Design your patch on your image program. 2) Place the order. You can phone in, or simply add this item to your shopping cart. 3) An EVIKE.com specialist will contact you via phone or email to request for your design. (preferably in high resolution .jpg or .gif file) 4) They will send you an image of a sample for approval. 5) Then they will ship the patches to you within 1~3 weeks after sample is confirmed. Hope this helps!

How to patch up a plaster wall?
Q. Ok long story short I got angry today and smashed a weak spot in my plaster wall. I covered it up with a photo but sooner or later my parents are gonna find out. The damage is basically a slightly depressed 3 quarter-circle crack with the remaing quarter still attached to the rest of the wall. How can I do a near seamless patch up of this? I'm quite good with my hands and have some DIY knowlege and planning to buy some ready-to-mix plaster, fill the depression in, sand it off and then coat it with a little paint. Would this be the best way? If you know a better way or have any tips it would be much appreciated! Thank you!

A. Your fix is exactly what I would do. But, you might want to tell your parents anyway, and tell them you would be more than happy to fix it, it was your fault. Best line a parent loves (at least this parent) "Yes, I learned something from this"! As a mom, I would know that my kid was fixing something, I would smell the paint fumes, mom's have a 6th sense. Good luck.

How do you patch a hole in drywall when the wall has a textured paint to it?
Q. We have about 3 holes in our walls - one is pretty big, like the size of a maybe a medium sized dinner plate from me being an idiot and kicking the wall and the other two are smaller, like the size of golf balls - from being a klutz and moving large furniture over my head. LOL. So needless to say it is my fault and before we move I would like to fix it. Normally I would just put a patch and paint over, but the wall has a sort of texture to it... how can I recreate the texture? It's like a flat stucco - cheap apartment paint job sort of feel.
Asked by Willalee - Mon Aug 13 15:16:23 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. There are textural spray paints at the home improvement centers. Mine is called orange peel and the spray from the can matched it exactly when I was being stupid making holes. For the large hole, you will probably need to put some hard tack behind it so that the spackle has something to grip on to. Let it dry (get the kind that doesn't crack) and sand it then hit it with the texture coat and repaint.

how can I patch a tear in the knee of a pair of nylon snowpants?
Q. My grandson tore his snowpants and they are nylon.. how do I put a patch on those.. I don't think I can use an iron on one since it will melt the fabric?

A. I suggest gluing on a piece of nylon with AquaSeal. This is a flexible adhesive sealant that SCUBA divers use. Works great for lots of things. You can find it at a dive shop or order it online. The AquaSeal will prevent the nylon from fraying, and it doesn't get stiff when it cures.

A. If your lawn is 80% shade then you are better off using St Augustine grass. It is more shade tolerant. The problem with St Augustine is you have to get it in sod. You may be able to find a sod farm near by where they usually have specials where you can buy a pick up truck load for around $40 of the loose ends after they cut their sod. Now if you have a good area of centipede grass, you can dig up a few pieces, ( roots, soil, and grass) and plant it in your bare spots and see if it will grow. You can also get a soil test done to see if your soil nutrients are out of wack. The test will tell you what nutrients you need to put down to get your centipede growing in the best environment. It takes the guess work out of it. Your… [cont.]

Is there a way to patch a hole in a swimming pool cleaner hose?
Q. Not the accordian hose, but it's hard plastic hose that's part of the cleaner itself. The patch (or whatever it is) needs to be not only waterproof, but also able to stick to hard plastic. I tried something called Hole Solution, which sucked. Thankyou. Thanks for the 2 replies so far. The hole is about the size of a quarter. Therefore, some type of patch is needed, not just silicone caulk.
Asked by SoCalBoy - Sat May 2 22:04:03 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. If it is pvc pipe then you can get a piece of the same size pipe and cut out a piece that would cover the hole by two or three inches all around. The patch will be curved the same as the pipe. Then using pvc primer and glue on both patch and pipe place the patch over the hole and hold it there for about ten seconds. You can not have any water in the pipe at the time, at least not under pressure. If the patch is the correct size it will work, if it is too big it will not make good contact and will not work.

How to paint a particular patch on my ceiling?
Q. I have a large stain on my cieling, and it won't come off. I have already tried Mr. Clean's Magic eraser and wet paper towels, and while they helped diminish it a bit, the stain is still visible. My mother suggested painting it. How would I paint just one particular patch without making it stand out? Does this mean I'll have to do my entire cieling. If so, what type of paints should I use?

A. as a professional painter for the last 26 years I can assure you you are not going to match it up with color samples you hold up to the ceiling and good luck getting a chip from the ceiling. There are 7,000,000 tints and hues recognizable to the human eye. So if you want the spot gone you will need to repaint, but use Kilz stain sealer on the spot first. But here is the logical side of your dilemma,if you find a color close to the ceiling, what is the greater of two evils...the stain on your ceiling or a mismatch paint color of the same size.

How to patch plaster before painting?
Q. House from 1930's and there are small cracks forming in kitchen. I want to paint but think I need to patch first. What to use and how? Is this very difficult? I can patch drywall and a little more handy than that.

A. The cracks are do to loose plaster. I have cut out the loose parts before and used a dura bond to fill back in just like repairing drywall. but you could end up opening a bigger hole than you wish too. on bigger spots that i could feel the looseness of the plaster when i apply pressure to I have used drywall screws and a aluminum shield to draw the area up and secure than compound over. I have done many repairs to plaster and to make it look real good I put lots of hours in with coats of compound. but your efforts could be for nothing if the plaster is not secure to the lats.

What is the difference between a patch and a mod in most PC games?
Q. I am a PC games fan. I just wanna know, what is the difference between a patch and a mod and how do i want to upgrade my game into a higher version like from V1.0 to V1.1?
Asked by shuk - Sun Aug 23 11:52:46 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. A patch is directly from the developer that produced the game and is 99% guaranteed to make the game run better. A mod is usually a user-created modification to the games code to make the game (sometimes) more fun or interesting. Patches generally fix broken code in a game to make it more playable, or add new features to the code to create bonus content for the user. Mods usually twist the code around to accomplish a gameplay function.
